Mike Habib is still going to die
Despite restrictions being lifted and Covid-19 case numbers continuing to decline, anger has erupted this week as the public realises they are still going to die of something.
New figures indicate that, although the pandemic has killed many in the last two years, approximately 108 million people wound up dead from something completely unrelated.
Restaurant owner Mike Habib, 39, said the number of dead people who didn’t have the virus is a shocking confirmation that if it isn’t Covid, something else will probably kill him.
“Here, I was all happy that I’d managed to dodge the Covid bullet, and now they’re telling me we’re all going to die anyway,” said an angry Mr Habib. “What are the government doing about this? Once people realise they could get killed in a car crash on their way to my restaurant or get stabbed to death in a mugging outside my restaurant, no one will come.”
Data analyst Mary Chan said it’s important for the public to be aware that Covid-19 is only one of the countless things likely to kill you. “You could burn to death in a house fire, get bowel cancer or even fall off a stool the wrong way and break your neck,” said Miss Chan. “Believe me; Covid is the least of your worries.”
Mr Habib says it’s just another kick in the guts for small business owners already struggling to make ends meet in the wake of the pandemic. “My restaurant is already in trouble. But who will come and eat my food now they know they might choke on our dry steak or die of salmonella poisoning from eating our disgusting, undercooked eggs?”
A government spokesman has urged people not to panic in light of the new figures, stating they are doing all they can to end mortality by Christmas.
